That wind you feel in your ears is a sigh of relief from the author. The new paperback version of All Your Pretty Dreams is formatted, checked, re-checked, designed, proofread, and … ta-da… published! Yes, there is a new cover and here it is. That is, of course, a close-up of one side of an accordion. Is it like the one Jonny Knobel plays in the story? You tell me.
To celebrate here is the first of several recipes of dishes mentioned in the book. This one is made by Jonny’s grandmother, Nora, for her husband, Reinholt, and her friend, Claude. Enjoy, and let me know how your pie turns out!
Oh, and if you want to get more recipes as I post, be sure to sign up to follow the blog. Thanks.
Fresh Blueberry Pie
2 pie crusts
4 cups fresh blueberries
2/3 cup white sugar
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp quick-cooking tapioca
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¼ tsp salt
1 tbsp lemon zest
1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
½ tbp butter
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and pick over blueberries. Combine sugar, flour, tapioca, spices, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in blueberries, add lemon zest and juice, and let stand for 15 minutes. Mix again then turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Dot with butter cut into small pieces. Cover with second pie crust. On lowest rack, bake for ten minutes in preheated oven. Reduce oven to 350 degrees, bake 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or cold.
Back in the States tomorrow. My granddaughter loves blueberries….we’ll have to make your pie!
I love them too! Welcome back, just in time to deluged by political attack ads! Cheers!
