Beat Slay Love
One Chef's Hunger for Delicious Revenge

Once upon a time five cooks stood around a roiling stew and each one grabbed for the spoon.
That’s the way it seemed to Kate, Taffy, Lise, Katy, and Gary, five authors and friends who embarked on a multi-year project to write a novel together. It took patience, and laughter, and a little spice, hard work, and trust, but eventually, well, they stuck a fork in it. It was done!
This imaginative project stretched all of us in a variety of ways. We wrote some from our own points on the map: Texas, Montana, California, Maine, and some from what others had written. We used reality television cooking shows as a jumping off point, mixing in serial killers, a cook with that cold dish– revenge– on her mind, a nerdy blogger, and a steely-eyed FBI agent. We cravenly modeled our story on the bestseller, Eat Pray Love, and created a unique and savory dish all our own. This is Beat Slay Love. Order up! Hurry, it’s getting cold.
“A wild, witty, enjoyable ride that has a remarkably consistent voice, given how many cooks prepared this delicious broth. And these cooks—Taffy Cannon, Kate Flora, Lise McClendon, Katy Munger, and Gary Phillips— were clearly having a great time playing together in their literary kitchen.” — Personal Chef Blog
“You’ll never watch the Food Network shows the same way after reading Beat Slay Love. . . a heady mixture of reality television, misbehaving foodies, murder most-creatively-foul, and determined sleuths. Delicious over-the-top fun!“ — Mysterious Galaxy • buy here
“An incredibly sly mystery. Everything you want when you bite into a dish: suspense, spice, and a twist on an old classic.” — Charlaine Harris, New York Times bestselling author
